Prayer Shawl Ministry
People knit shawls for many
different reasons. Shawls console
those who are grieving, comfort
those who are ill, bring hope to
those who are in despair. Ideally,
as he or she is knitting, the
knitter prays for the person who
will receive the shawl. Oftentimes,
the recipient is unknown at the time
but prayers are offered for whoever
will need the shawl. Many shawls
have been donated to Knit Together
and there is always someone who
needs to receive one.
The patterns are simple and suitable
for beginning knitters. They can be
obtained free of charge at the
shop. We recommend using Encore
yarn , a soft blend of wool and
acrylic which is machine washable
and dryable. Most shawls require
three balls of yarn. 10% of the
cost of yarn for prayer shawls is
given by Knit Together to the Lydia
Project which supports women with
cancer.

PATRICK'S CROSS
Patrick is three years old. He was
diagnosed with stage IV neuroblastoma, a
life-threatening childhood cancer, in
early June 2006. He is a very brave,
faith-filled little boy. His mother
writes: "One last insight into the magic
that is Patrick; he has become quite
attached to a wooden cross that my
mother gave him. It is kind of fat and
perfectly sized to fit right in his
palm. It is so touching to see him
holding it, squeezing it, and being
comforted by it. May we all find such
comfort during this time. "
He is comforted by his cross and finds
strength in it. "His stomach started
bothering him as the evening wore on,
and his dad positioned the appropriate
tub beside his bed. Patrick said he
would throw up in the tub if needed, but
if his stomach merely hurt, he would
'just hold my cross.' He is such an
angel." In honor of Patrick, a donation
is made to the AFLAC Cancer Center in
Atlanta Georgia for neuroblastoma
research for each cross sold.
Available in store or by order. $15 each
we will ship.

Knitting for Others
Under
the leadership of Pam Lien, Knitting for
Others has flourished. This is a
wonderful way to learn new techniques as
a gift from Pam and Knit Together.
10% of all yarn purchased for these
projects is given to the Lydia Project
which supports women with cancer.
Many baby caps, sweaters, booties and
mittens have been delivered to the
nurseries at University Hospital. All are welcome to come on
Thursday mornings to sit at the big
table and share their talents and love
of knitting with each other and untold
others.
Knitting for
Others will continue on Thursdays from 10am-12noon
before the shop officially opens for the day. Pam
Lien is always present for instruction for these
projects.
We now offer Knit for Others on Tuesday nights from
6-8pm.
